Veteran singer-songwriter Darryl Purpose’s new CD, Still the Birds, paints eleven compelling vignettes around the dark and light, fall and redemption, despair and hope of our human affliction. From a Vietnam draft-dodger coming unhinged to the gangs of LA and twists on literary icons Dylan and Poe, to Buddha, the Civil War, and the redemption of love, these tales explore the tension amidst triumph and vulnerability. The songs are as unique and diverse as the stories from Darryl’s kaleidoscopic life.
A nationally touring musician, Darryl is also a member of the Blackjack Hall of Fame. He’s walked across the country for peace, been banned from casinos on six continents, played in the first stadium rock concert in the former Soviet Union, and studied with global spiritual leader Thich Nhat Hanh.
Renowned accordian player Radislov Lorković will be joining Darryl for this show.
