Famous October, an American and Swiss pair that are intimately intertwined singer-songwriters, combines vocal harmony with cello and guitar arranged in a way which gives breath to a new acoustically driven, yet hauntingly bold sound.
Their writing daringly pulls from Americana and modern folk music with an underlying classical character. The songs on their debut album One Day Baby tackle the Schluesselerlebnisse (key moments) the two have experienced in wait of the birth of their first child. Sarah elicits the sound of the folk and blues festivals that defined her childhood summers in a Mississippi riverside neighborhood in Iowa. Her writing on this record is noticeably shaped by a borrowed nostalgia of 1960s folk revival songs, although she uses her classical background as a cellist and arranger to sew her melodies through a different cloth. Rene divulges his unique affinity for great and timeless songwriters through his sweet melodic guitar picking and gritty tender voice. Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, and Jeff Tweedy are distinctively channeled by this native Innerschweizer. Rene grew up at the foot of the Swiss alps with an insatiable urge to identify with the musical culture of the vast United States.
The album One Day Baby will be released on October 7th, 2016 and can only be purchased prior to release at the concerts on this tour.
