Gene and Sandy played bluegrass together in the late '60s in New York City, Butch and Sandy have played together for many years, and they've all played with Brian and Steve in different contexts. Organized around Gene's sublime singing and repertoire, the Bicoastal Boys—Gene lives in NYC; the rest of the group lives in the Bay Area—have played together but The Back Room is their first public venue.
Brian and Sandy will play some fiddle & banjo duets to open. Here's a video montage of a song from their recent CD "The Red Fiddle and the Silver Banjo":
Gene Yellin, guitar and vocals
Sandy Rothman, banjo and vocals
Butch Waller, mandolin and vocals
Brian Godchaux, fiddle and vocals
Steve Pottier, upright bass
