Stevie Barsotti & Robbie Dunbar, with Special Guest Sam Rudin

Stevie Barsotti writes nature and spirit songs, bringing the forest, mountain, and ocean right into the room through the music. Robbie Dunbar writes open-hearted, emotionally satisfying pop and rock music. Together, they are a joyous presence on stage, filtering a 60's sensibility through a lifetime of expert musicianship.

Sam Rudin (who is, of course, the owner of The Back Room, and is better known for his virtuosity at the piano) is a uniquely engaging percussionist, his bongos sounding sometimes like a scaled-down drum set, and other times like an Indian tabla. With (mostly) acoustic guitars, some electric bass, and the bongos, you can expect a real coffee house flavor.

Stevie and Robbie met in the Sixties in a magical time of transformation, and started playing in various rock & roll bands while still in high school. The new, electric aspect of the music was very exciting to them, but they were drawn to the acoustic side of the music as well.

Robbie and Stevie (who also have a more electric project called Dapper Shindig) have enjoyed participating in the evolving rock & roll scene in the East Bay and beyond over the last 50 years, playing in many different bands: Robbie in the Purple Earthquake, then Earth Quake for a long stint touring and recording albums, and writing most of the material on those albums. He still plays with Larry Lynch and the Mob, Earth Quake, and Lovers Leap. Stevie played in Haymarket Riot and Lazarus in the 60's, Grayson Street in the 70's, Stevie B and the Hornets in the 80's, Country Joe McDonald in the 80's and 90's, and Beeswax for more than 20 years.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the link below. Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash only at the door (ATMs are nearby).

The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own adult beverage with no additional corkage fee. If you need more information, or have any questions, please call us: #510-654-3808. Thank you for your support!
