The Dim Lights are a Pacifica-based traditional bluegrass band featuring the family of Avram (guitar), Vicki (bass) and Dana Frankel (fiddle), accompanied by Larry Cohea (banjo) and special guest David Thiessen (mandolin).
The band has a loyal following, playing all over the Bay Area and Northern California at a variety of venues, and is often hired to perform at various California festivals. They recently released their first CD and are a high-energy bluegrass band that formed after a local plumber figured out they were bluegrass musicians and recommended them to the Pacifica Moose Lodge for a gig. Well, they got the gig, and have been performing ever since.
You’ve might've heard Vicki’s infectious laugh around a festival campground, or caught Larry and Avram up late picking or performing with other fine bands - but it’s Dana’s traditional fiddling and clear tenor that garner the compliments - she’s the star. Over 50 years separate the oldest and youngest band members, and bluegrass sure has a way of bringing the band’s three generations together.
