"Owen Roberts has a knack for creating visceral lyrics. He writes about community and the social conscience, something he attributes to growing up in Berkeley. Elements of nature find their way in the subtle layers of his songs. Water, avalanches, fault lines." - San Francisco Chronicle
Owen's 2016 EP Mama Sun is a concise and melodic reflection on his first years as a father. The album shines a light on his dynamic and soulful voice, a penchant for experimenting with meter and rhythm, and a distinctive ability to weave poetry with music.
KQED calls Unfold, a 2012 full-length album with his band Shady Maples, "perfectly Californian." He has toured the coasts with the band and as a solo artist and continues to write, sing his heart, and raise bars, glasses and children.
