New York based, Berkeley-raised pianist Ethan Ostrow returns to California with his quartet of BHS Jazz alumni! The group will be playing many of his compositions, as well as the works of legendary jazz composers such as Cedar Walton and Horace Silver.
Having led a double-life as an actor for many years, Ethan understands the power of storytelling, and brings it to his music in every performance. His groups strive for an intense, lush sound, and demonstrate deep personal expression. Ethan has had the opportunity to perform at some of the Bay Area’s finest venues, including Yoshi’s, The UC Theater, The Fox Theater, The Freight & Salvage and more. He is currently studying jazz at the Manhattan School of Music, soaking in all that the clubs and streets of New York have to offer.
In addition to his passion for music, Ethan has spent much of the past year fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He released his debut album, Confused, as a fundraiser for the LLS, and led an annual benefit concert with his trio at the Freight & Salvage.
