Pianist William Beatty / Countdown featuring Lloyd Williams - Double CD Release

Join us for an afternoon of Jazz and Soul at this double CD release concert, featuring pianist William Beatty with bassist Aaron Germain, drummer Deszon Claiborne, and special guest vocalist Nicolas Bearde, followed by The Countdown Band featuring vocalist Lloyd Williams.

William will begin the show with selections from his recently recorded CD, The Path of Green Stones, and a piece or two just off the presses.

Back in the early 1990's The Pasand Lounge in San Francisco and their location in Berkeley featured live music every night. The Countdown Band rotated weeks between the venues with two other house bands, backing the premier vocalists of the Bay Area. Lloyd Williams and Countdown performed for capacity audiences of listeners and dancers, honing a very tight sound over their years together.

Lloyd's stellar vocals are heard as the singing voice of Otis Day and the Knights in the classic movie Animal House, singing "Shout" and "Shamalama Ding Dong." Lloyd's vocal career includes performing with The Undisputed Truth, George Clinton and Parliament Funkedelic.

After a reunion gig at the home of Chef Kurt Koessel (in the backyard on a beautiful day in early summer, with red beans and rice ), Countdown and Lloyd recorded a CD at Bellboy Recording Studios in Richmond California. The arrangements came together like it was yesterday. Latriece Love and Ahsah-Ti Tyehimba Ford iced the cake with their vocals!

Countdown is:
Archie Williams - guitar
Bill Beatty - piano
Aaron Germain - bass
Mark Lee - drums
Latriece Love and AhSahti Tyehimba Ford - vocals

Special guest artists: vocalist Nicolas Bearde and guitarist Clyde Childress.
