Berliner + Schwartz + Watson + Greenberg features four accomplished jazz musicians in their own right, touring as a quartet for the first time. The band is:
Sasha Berliner (NYC)
Sasha is a BlueHaus Mallets endorsing vibraphonist and drummer, bandleader, and recording artist. "She desires to speak out about political and social justice through her music, something her Bay Area upbringings and instrumentalist background have passionately yielded." - from sashaberlinermusic.com.
Max Schwartz (Miami, FL)
Max Schwartz is a Downbeat Award-winning bassist and composer now living in Miami, FL, and is highly-acclaimed as both a bluegrass and jazz musician. He is a two-time member of the GRAMMY® Jazz Combo and was the bassist in the 2016 Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, which toured Japan in the summer of 2016 and played at the Monterey Jazz Festival the same year.
Tim Watson (Miami, FL)
Tim Watson has received high honors from the YoungArts Foundation for his guitar playing and composing, and is the author of decodingmonder.com, a blog dedicated to "decoding" the music styles of guitarist Ben Monder (recently featured on David Bowie's album Blackstar, as well as Maria Schneider, Lee Konitz).
Pele Greenberg (NYC)
Pele Greenberg is a percussionist and bandleader based in New York City and is an aficionado of Cuban traditional music. He had the chance to study Cuban percussion techniques on a trip to Havana in 2016 with the Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble. Pele has had the privilege of being tutored by some of New York's most highly sought-after drummers, including Kendrick Scott, Andrew Cyrille, and Rodney Green.
