An East Bay native, Jimi James developed an early reputation as a flashy blues and rock guitarist, and was the long-time lead guitarist in the John Lee Hooker Band.
Jimi was also one of the first rockers to dive deeply into country music - he formed a very popular band with a hot country fiddler, "Papa Walt," who also happened to be his dad. But he never left his rock 'n' roll roots, and was a staple for many years on California's outdoor festival circuit.
Back Room founder Sam Rudin, known then (and sometimes now) as Hurricane Sam, was a frequent guest star in the band, as he will be again for this performance.
