Charlie King & Rebel Voices

Charlie King & Rebel Voices have been singing, recording and touring together for years, East Coast and West. Each a seasoned act on its own, together they combine the best of repertoire and performance. Excellent songwriting, remarkable harmonic arrangements and a kind of incendiary energy that lights up a stage all make for a night to remember

Charlie King is a musical storyteller and political satirist. He has been at the heart of American folk music for over half a century. Pete Seeger hailed him as “One of the finest singers and songwriters of our time.” He is this year’s recipient of the Phil Ochs Award, recognizing his music and activism for social and political justice in the spirit of Phil Ochs.

His songs have been recorded and sung by Pete & Peggy Seeger, Holly Near, Ronnie Gilbert, John McCutcheon, Arlo Guthrie, and Chad Mitchell. He is currently touring with his latest recording Life & Love, Tears & Laughter, a 15-song, eclectic mix of classic folk songs - time tested - and new songs reflecting on the testing times we live in.

Folk legend Peggy Seeger says, "If we had more Charlie Kings in the world I'd be less worried," and Tom Paxton adds, "Luckily, we have him!"

Janet Stecher and Susan Lewis are the singing duo Rebel Voices. Their provocative repertoire combines political punch and wry wit with intricate harmony and dramatic flair. This powerful and inspiring duo promises an evening of thought-provoking, zany, reaffirming music to lift the spirit and prick the conscience. They have been singing together for over 40 years. They can take a song you think you've heard, and through their striking arrangements and uniquely haunting harmonies, make it their own.

"On the heels of Nirvana, the next big Seattle group to make a national splash should be the folk duo Rebel Voices . . ." - KDVS-FM

"They weave humor, insight and conviction into their resonant voices and send us back to the world renewed."  - Vancouver Folk Festival
