Phil Marsh is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. He was the first musical director and band leader for SF's famous Pickle Family Circus, a guitarist with Country Joe McDonald, and wrote and performed with the East Bay Sharks and on the now infamous Masked Marauders album.
Phil was a mainstay of The Cleanliness & Godliness Skiffle Band, the folk duo Phil & Phil, and founder of Energy Crisis, a famous and funky local club and dance band. He has recorded with Folkways, Vanguard, Warner Brothers, and others, and continues to write songs and gig in New York City and the Bay Area and central coast.
Phil is alleged to have been a seminal performer at the original Freight & Salvage, and he hosted the Freight Anniversary shows for many years. Recent work has included songs about dogs, basketball, and the perils of modern life.
Richard Saunders will be joining in on bass, and others will likely sit in. Richard played in The Cleanliness and Godliness Skiffle band, with Country Joe way back when, and is a mainstay on the Bay Area jazz scene.
