Michael Schwartz Quartet

Michael Schwartz Quartet.jpg

Michael Schwartz is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer-arranger from Marin County, CA. Quickly realizing he’d never be able to live up to his father’s dreams as a marching band tubist, he picked up the saxophone at age 10 and has grown from there.

Michael has performed in festivals and concerts in New York, Boston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, in the Bay Area at the SFJAZZ Center and Yoshi's, and has toured internationally, including a two-week tour of Japan. He is honored to have been a member of the SFJAZZ High-School All-Stars for three years, the CJC Jazzschool Studio Band for two, and the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, with whom he performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival for four years. He has performed onstage with and for esteemed musicians and figures such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, the Tommy Igoe Groove Conspiracy, Tony Bennett, Clint Eastwood, Nancy Pelosi, and more.

Michael currently studies electrical engineering at UCLA, but he still maintains many musical projects in Los Angeles, such as his funk band Cerulean, R&B band Jaded, and more.

This is Michael's first time performing with this quartet. He is excited to perform alongside Lucas Hahn on keys, Isaac Coyle on bass, and Adam Briere on drums.
