Steam Machine & The Evie Ladin Band

Steam Machine
Steam Machine's music sits somewhere between the full, round sound of American old-time and the raw drive of early bluegrass. With clean, powerful fiddling, driving three-finger banjo, honest harmony singing, and a rock solid rhythm section, they highlight unique and beautiful Midwestern repertoire alongside tunes and songs from Appalachia.

Band members AJ Srubas, Aaron Tacke, Rina Rossi, and Nokosee Fields’ first performance together was in the 2017 Traditional Stringband contest at Clifftop, where they placed second after a five-way tie. They decided to record an album soon after, which they released in Spring 2018.

All four band members are actively involved in perpetuating roots music and dance traditions as players and teachers, and they enjoy sharing their love of this music with audiences wherever they go.

Evie Ladin Band
Tenacious, innovative string musicians/dancers with a pulsing neo-trad heart, the Evie Ladin Band – Evie Ladin, Keith Terry and Erik Pearson – throws down soulful folk songs with a four-dimensional live show. Grounded in Appalachian old-time repertoire, seasoned in African-diaspora roots, writing from life in modern cities, blurring the lines between music and dance, “I had no idea!” is how audiences describe the ELB’s captivating concerts.

Their 2012 eponymous release, Evie Ladin Band, won Americana Album of the Year from the Independent Music Awards Vox Pop Vote, and their 2016 release Jump the Fire reveals the tight trio the band has become. After many miles, a host of new songs, and a truly original sound in new old-time Americana, the band took home the silver from 2017 Clifftop’s illustrious Neo-Trad Stringband contest.
