American Guitar Masters with Larry Pattis: A Benefit for Animal Rescue

Larry Pattis succeeds in merging styles of instrumental guitar not normally found in the same room together. His love of classical composers and performers is evident in the lyrical nature of his compositions.

Strong melodic themes are developed, explored and reprised in ways that harken back to the early innovators of the guitar as a solo instrument. But Pattis is very much rooted in the modern world, with the textures and sensibilities of the steel-string guitar as it exists today. His pieces are inspired by his relationships to places and friends, but also to the strong emotions we all have in common. His musical explorations can be strong or tender, lighthearted or melancholy, but an artful contrast is always at the forefront of his compositions.

Pattis is known for his original, lyrical and emotive music, and for his beautiful interpretations of pieces such as “Ashokan Farewell” and “Waltzing Matilda.” His vision is in bringing forth the highest level of emotive qualities of the acoustic guitar, the goal is to delight the audience with landscape and mood of the life experiences that are the foundation of the music.

The Salt Lake City Weekly wrote, “Pattis approaches every note with the ethics of a perfectionist, but without sacrificing the passionate center his compositions inhabit. You may find yourself wondering if guitar music has ever sounded this good,” and the Salt Lake Tribune chimed in with, “...a lesson for the ears, heart and soul about acoustic guitar music.” Acoustic Musician Magazine wrote, “Pattis creates tunes that are clean, pure as stream water, and warmly pleasing.”

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the tragic wildfires in Northern California, Larry is donating 100% of his fee for this performance to the North Valley Animal Disaster Group, a 501(c)(3) organization that assists with sheltering and evacuation of animals during a disaster.
