Sugartown returns to The Back Room for their Fourth Annual Day of the Dead Show. In the spirit of Dia de los Muertos, they'll be honoring the musical luminaries who have moved on to the by and by this last year - from Robert Hunter to Dr. John, Nancy Wilson to Art Neville. If you've been to one of their prior Day of the Dead shows, you know you're in for a treat. If you haven't, come check out what the buzz is all about! The band puts a Sugartown spin on an eclectic mix of tunes and pays homage to their musical heroes and heroines.
Sugartown is a local quintet bringing warm harmonies and impeccable musicianship to originals and well-chosen covers. They are singer-songwriter Zoe FitzGerald Carter (guitar and vocals), Brian Bloom (guitar and vocals), Dan Seamans (acoustic bass and vocals), David Boyden (acoustic and electric fiddle), and Joe Mockus (drums and percussion).
Their debut CD, Waiting for the Earthquake, was released last year and featured Zoe's original songs. The band hopes to head back into the studio soon with a bevy of Zoe's new tunes while they continue to gig around the local Bay Area music scene.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door, general admission; $10 for students with ID. Children 12 and under are free. Advance tickets are available at the link below, or you may purchase your tickets at the door the night of the show. Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash only at the door (ATMs are nearby).
The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own adult beverage with no additional corkage fee. If you need more information or have any questions, please call us: #510-654-3808. Thank you for your support!
