Kay Kostopoulos brings a Mediterranean feel to jazz, with her sultry vocals, serpentine phrases and exotic finger cymbals. Kay is also a Stanford lecturer in Business and Theater, and her theatrical background lends an emotional sensitivity to her lush and sensuous three-octave vocal range. And her extensive knowledge of the Great American Songbook allows her to include little-known gems as well as old favorites.
Joining her tonight as a special guest is the great Roberta Donnay, everybody's favorite singer of 1920's jazz. Veteran musicians Caroline Chung and Laura Klein make it an all-girl affair - except that Sam Rudin will be sitting in on piano for a few.
It will be a lovely and varied afternoon!
