Twisted Roots brings together two Bay Area guitar icons: Eric Thompson and Henry Kaiser.
Eric first attracted attention with his pioneering flat-picking in the early ’60’s - you can hear his sizzling leads on the recently released Jerry Garcia Before the Dead CD box set. Since then, he’s been digging into every kind of earthy folk music he could find.
Grammy-winner Henry Kaiser is widely recognized as one of the most creative and innovative guitarists, improvisers, and producers in the fields of rock, jazz, world, and contemporary experimental musics.
Together they explore traditional material through an eclectic prism, visiting the blues and mountain musics of Appalachia and Puerto Rico, with maybe a side trip to the Mediterranean, or even their own fertile imaginations!
Joining Eric and Henry’s electric and acoustic guitars will be John Hanrahan on drums and Terry Shields on bass.
