Q4 Jazz Project

Barry Breaux Q4 Jazz Project.JPG

The Q4 Jazz Project presents contemporary arrangements reflecting the "Blue Note" era in jazz. Many great and unforgettable jazz musicians were introduced to the world by Blue Note Records and their music lives on today. Our goal is to keep it alive and exciting with new arrangements and approaches to many of the same iconic compositions.

Pianist Spencer Allen, who has accompanied Roy Hargrove, Joe Henderson and Kitty Margolis, is well-known for his percussive and complex modal approach to his instrument, with influences including Art Tatum, Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson and Chick Corea.

Bassist Mark Williams draws from decades of experience working with Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Calvin Keys and Joshua Redman, among others.

Guitarist Barry Breaux plays in the style of Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery and Grant Green, and has worked locally with Steve Carter, Larry Vann, and Lloyd Gregory.

Drummer Al Brooks rounds out the group and cites Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, and Tony Williams as his major influences.

Q4 Jazz Project proudly presents the greatest art form created in the Western hemisphere: Jazz.

In the words of the great Joel Dorham, "Space is not the last frontier, jazz is. I hear footsteps."
